We stumbled upon the Atlanta-based professional painter Kristen Giorgi’s Instagram page and were immediately hooked, who is this girl and how do we get our hands on one of these beautiful paintings? It turns out we aren’t the only ones who needed to know more, a quick web search and a list of Q&A’s from others such as; Jenni Kayne, The Great Eros and BLUE  dive deep into the world of KRISTEN GIORGI. What more could we ask that hasn’t already been answered?

So you made the jump from fashion to the fine art world, tell us what pushed you to turn your passion into a career?

I loved being in fashion, but the corporate world was not for me and I knew I ultimately wanted to work for myself.  I started painting and when my work started to get attention from the interior design world, I knew it could be turned into a career and be lucrative.

Whats a typical day look like for you?

I get up every morning around 7am and drive my daughter to school, hit a workout class or yoga, then it's coffee and emails.  I typically have an appointment with a client somewhere in there.  Then I usually paint the second half of the day and it ends around 5 and its cuddles on the couch with Vivienne (my seven-year-old daughter).

What landed you in Atlanta?

My first job out of college (Assistant Buyer at Ballard Designs) brought me down and I’ve been here ever since.  Even though ATL isn’t my largest market, I love living here - it's a great home base.

Atlantas best kept secret?

It's not necessarily a secret, but The Basement - the best place to dance in ATL.

What’s your dream project?

I would love to have an installation in the stores of one of my favorite luxury brands like Celine or The Row.

If you could collaborate on a project with another artist living or dead who would it be?

I just went to Mexico City and was completely enamored and inspired by the work of Luis Barragan so, for now, it would be him

Besides painting what are your favorite past times.

Working out, shopping for vintage furniture and constantly redecorating my spaces.

Most over worn item in your closet?

An oversized gray sweater from Zara.  It’s pretty worn down but I cannot seem to part with it.

Sneakers or heels?

Sneakers!

5 things you cant leave home without?

Water bottle, sunglasses, lip balm, a snack, concealer

You could sit down to dinner with 4 people, living or dead, who would they be?

Edie Sedgwick, Tracey Morgan, Anna Nicole Smith, Frank Sinatra

Style Icon?

Clare Waight Keller

Describe your personal style in a few words?

Minimal and tailored

How does one own a piece of your artwork? Do you sell prints or are all of your paintings commissioned?

All inquiries for work are inquired within.  I have inventory that can be viewed on my website and also offer commissions for custom work.  I don't currently sell any prints at the moment.

Current disposition?

self-reflective
